Trina brings a uniquely heartwarming and integrative approach to her teachings. Born into a Buddhist family in Vietnam, she spent her youth surrounded by monastics, receiving her earliest lessons from her mother, who taught her to embody the Brahmaviharas (the Four Heavenly Abodes) in everyday life. Today, Trina blends the devotional depth of Eastern traditions with the systematic, evidence-based methods of Western mindfulness.

Her teaching is influenced by the lineages of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, Bhante Gunaratana, Ajahn Sona, Ajahn Mun, Chan Master Sheng Yen, and S.N. Goenka. Having accumulated over 150 days in silent retreat, Trina practices across the Theravada-Insight and Thich Nhat Hanh traditions.

Bridging Mindfulness and Modern Leadership

As a visionary entrepreneur with over 18 years of experience leading startups and building organizations, Trina understands the unique pressures of the modern workplace. She integrates Buddhist ethics to inspire teams, advocating for work-life harmony and facilitating mindful conflict resolution.

Trina is a qualified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher through Brown University. Her commitment to accessibility has led her to teach in diverse settings—from corporate boardrooms and inner cities to underserved communities in prisons.

Community & Vision

Authorized to teach in 2021, Trina has served on the Teacher’s Council at the Portland Insight Meditation Center. In early 2024, she co-founded Pacific Northwest Meditation, an open-door, inclusive community in Portland dedicated to providing guidance and study without boundaries.

When not teaching, Trina is a "mindful foodie" who enjoys long hikes, nature photography, Zen calligraphy, and cooking vegetarian meals. She resides in a hut on an organic farm —an unique 23 acre property shared by a Buddhist temple and a Druid sanctuary.

“May I become at all times,

both now and forever,
A protector for those without protection,
A guide for those who have lost their way,
A ship for those with oceans to cross,
A bridge for those with rivers to cross,
A sanctuary for those in danger,
A lamp for those without light,
A place of refuge for those who lack shelter,
And a servant to all in need.

- Shantideva, 8th century Indian Buddhist monk
