Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an evidence-based program developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn that integrates mindfulness, meditation, and movement to promote inner balance and resilience. It effectively alleviates chronic pain, improves medical symptoms, and helps manage anxiety and depression, enhancing participants' quality of life. Mindfulness encourages us to engage with the present moment, breaking free from past and future distractions. Practicing in a group setting fosters awareness and motivation, supported by friends and skilled teachers. The teachings provide a valuable framework for our experiences, making the journey more effective when shared with others.

Participants in the MBSR class should attend all weekly 2.5-hour sessions over the 8-week program to maximize benefits. Active involvement in experiential learning exercises is essential for developing emotional regulation and stress management skills. Engaging respectfully with instructors and fellow participants fosters a supportive environment. Completing the introductory session will clarify course structure and expectations, while maintaining a personal mindfulness practice outside of class will enhance learning. Participants are encouraged to reach out to the instructor or course coordinator with any questions or concerns.

Trina Truong, a qualified MBSR Teacher trained at the Mindfulness Center of Brown University, specializes in trauma-sensitive mindfulness and has extensive experience teaching mindfulness and meditation to diverse groups, including marginalized communities.
